Platinum spark plugs for 240 I-6?

The previous owner sold me my truck needing a tuneup. I plan to do it this weekend.

I see the part stores sell both standard, and platinum plugs. I'd like the self-cleaning properties of the platinum plugs, however, I see that the standard plugs are sold as "light duty", "normal duty", "heavy duty". I assume that this is different heat ranges. The difference is that the platinums don't have any heat ranges listed, and only have one part number per brand.

Are platinums "universal" in that they don't need different heat ranges? I'd like to avoid a hole in my piston.

I can say, that after doing multiple tune-ups on multiple cars, company and otherwise, Platinum should be ok in your truck. I have a 302, and have yet to replace the plugs ( I need to do a full tune up...) and am, myself, looking at some NGK Iridium plugs. I've used both Platinum and Iridium (never mixed) throught multiple vehicles, and both will perform very well. I'm hoping the better plugs will help with my tough starting issues.

Anyway, I have not put any higher end plugs in my truck, but just from expiriance with putting them in a '00 Mitsubichi Mirage, '08 Nissan Versa, '01 + '03 Dodge Ram 1500, Multiple Crown Victoria's, Impala's, a couple Charger's, A Chevy Suburban, '98 Honda Civic, '04 Honda Civic SI, and a few others, that they perform well.

Hope I helped.
