I'll be picking up a good long block as well a .030 over block and polished crank this coming week sometime! All for around $300.
He will sell me the prepped block and crank for less than the machining would cost on the other one so that explains 2 blocks.
I'm planning on building a stout bottom end and just s little head work. Eventualy I'll throw alum heads on but they are a little bit expensive for my wallet right now. I'm hoping to stay under $1000 but you know how that goes.
Any secrets or little tricks for a 460 that anyone would be willing to share would be greatly apretiated!!
What year(s) are your blocks? The DV3E heads can be made to work well with a little work. You may be able to put off buying those expensive heads for now and put the money into some other parts. When I built my 460, I was on the 460 forum here almost daily. It depends on what you want your 460 to do, but I'd suggest the 460 forum for now, and start reading. It saves alot of trial and error.
I only got the long block. I didn't here him right on the price. I still only paid $200 for a 73 long block. I'll start tearing it down this weekend. Cross my fingers there is no dsmage inside. It turns fine. He swaped out the motor for a worked one. It has a bent pushrod but it turns fine.
