Hello, so my car is having ideling problems and I can only start it when its in neuteral. My mechanic told me I might be having a problem with my PCV tube (it might be worn or even have a hole) and should get it replaced.
It has now been two months and I can't seem to get confirmation of the tube I need from Ford. I know it is a Y-tube and is plastic. Can anyone confirm which tube I need (product #) and how much it may cost. Additionally, where can I get if from as Ford will need to order it.
I would check out the ICV (Idle Control Valve). That seems to be a pretty common problem on these trucks. Its around $60 at any autoparts store. If I'm not mistaken, a bad PCV would also cause rough running conditions. How does the truck run once started? If it runs fine, I would turn my attention to the ICV. Usually in the case of a vacuum leak, such as with the PCV system, the idle will be higher than normal, not lower. Like davisenvy said, the IAC valve is the likely culprit here. As for only starting in neutral, either the DTR sensor down on the tranny is no good, or the shift cable adjustment is off enough so that the tranny isn't going fully into Park.

Thank you,

The starting problem sounds like an out of adjustment or bad MLPS (manual Lever Position Switch). It is located on the driver side of the transmission at the selector lever.
