I'm on a mission to get more MPG out of my truck. Has anyone had experience with these Throttle body spacers? Poweraid.com claims it's spacer can add power and up to 5 MPG. I doubt that but even a 1 to 1.5 mpg gain would be signifigant.
I'd like to put in a K&N filter with cold air intake but I've noticed that no one makes a cold air intake specificly for the 4.9 liter. Has anyone ever converted one made for a 5.0? How about one made from scratch? A Home Depot Special if you will.
The other MPG mods I have in mind include keeping the tires properly inflated(i know it's not really a mod). Getting a tonue cover or bed cap to impove aerodynamics and maybe some exhaust mods. Any suggestions?
I know of a few guy's with 5.0L's with a Poweraid TB spacer and they got a noticable gain in MPG but no noticable power gain.
I've got an FIPK with ram/cool air induction and gained about 3 MPG. I went from 16mpg to about 19mpg. A good cat-back will also help with gaining some MPG in some cases.

What year is your engine? Read Project MPG. I insulated my fresh-air ducts myself and noticed a slight improvement. You can see it in my sig link.
was it recently tuned up? also a haeavy 4x4 ext cab isnt gunna get the milage a shortbox 2wd stick will. also might wanna change ur driving habits. TB spacers might give a little more MPG but ur better off savin the $$. IMHO.
K&N does make an air intake system for the 300 its under FIPK fuel injection performace kit or something like that but it is out there.... i think fuel mileage is how you drive.. if you put all these mods on the engine to make it get more power youll keep your foot out of it more to maintain speed thus using less gas but thats just a side thought of mine.... intake and exhaust are a good start..
