Dont want to get the fires started, but what is the difference in the "extended" wheelbase camper special rear axles and the standard wheelbase F250/F350 rear axles? And will a Dana 60 from an F250 bolt in? It is a NON dually. Thank You
-Lance
AFAIK they fit just fine.. I tried to put a older rear in my 73 and it wouldnt fit at all (shorter frame back then) so just make sure your measurements line up as for the rear as long as the brackets and bolts are all in the right place it will stick up.. the CS had a sway bar factory so make sure that you pull that hardware over to the new rear and that the holes for bolt on are there. measure twice buy once
Actually.....No. The axles are completely different. All 2wd F-350's use a 7500 pound Dana 70 rear axle. The axle is setup for dual rear wheels and will only fit trucks with narrow rear frame rails.
4x4 F-350's and all F-250's use 5300 pound Dana 60 axles. These axles are setup for trucks with wide frame rails(except for "highboy" and crew cab models).
So, aside from the weight capacity, the spring pads and shock mounts are completely different. You COULD put a 60 in a truck that originally had a 70. However, the spring pads and shock mounts will have to be modified(unless the axle is from a "highboy" or crew cab). But, axle capacity will be greatly reduced.
And just to clear something up, ALL single cab 2wd F-350's have the extended wheelbase. It does not matter if it's a super camper special or not.
