converting front to leafs

hey all now that im waiting on parts for the engine i am looking to starting on the front suspension of my 77 150 ranger. I am thinking of going with a leaf spring setup, and i am curious, what will need to be done to get this working? I have a pick-n-pull yard about 40 miles away and they have 3-4 70's f150-350 trucks. I am thinking of getting all the parts from one of the 250's they got there. i have heard this is fairly easy but i just want to see if any one has done this with their truck and if you did could you please let me know the problems that you may have encountered with this. the reason for me doing this is, it is a project truck and i have always loved the way the front leafs look i know the ride will be a little harsher and all but i am not worried about that plus it is a lil easier to lift like this am i correct? another reason for this is i am looking for something to do lol I get bored and i need to jumpstart this project again. I has ben sitting at a friends for a year and i am just now getting to the nitty gritty on it. not to mention if i can keep myself busy it leaves les time for me to be getting myself into trouble with the wife . (she allowes me my trucks i allow her, her shoes, i think i got screwed on this deal ! shoes cost to darn much!!!!)

check available lift kits if that is your goal. To me it sure seems like its easier to find a lift kit for the coil spring models. Esp if your goal is to have a lifted truck that rides decent.

With leaf springs, the kit doesn't really matter, you can get custom leaves of any height made. Then you just have to figure out the steering.

Theoretically all you need to do is put the spring hangers on your frame and put the pads on your axle (they have buckets for your coil springs).
It will probably require the use of a welder. You could also see if you can get a front axle off one of those junkyard trucks cheap enough to just swap the whole thing over, of course they you would have an 8 lug front. If any of them are a dana 60, it'd be worth it.

if i find one with a dana 60 then i am going to pull the front and rear end to match that way i am 8 lug all the way around but that is what i am hoping to find the stearing should not be all that sificult to figure out and i think i can get the mounts and all for the front with the axle for under 150 so it should come out well. even i didnt use the axle (due to something being wrong with it) i would still like to convert incase i find a good one later on and i will prolly grab the stearing lincage up to and including the pitman arm at first till i lift it a bit im prolly just going to go with 5 in the front and 3 in the rear so i caould fit some 35's in there but only time (and the wife) will tell.
