Ive got a 79 150 that ive had since I was 16. Ive put a lift and 35's on it but other than that its pretty much stock. I was thinking about pulling the 351m out and maybe swapping for something different. I dont do alot with the old truck besides an occasional trip to the woods for a little campin and mud/trail riding. Ive got a 351w with headers and a 650 four barrel on it but ive always liked the sound of a big block. Not to mention im not real thrilled to have to change tranny's. For what i use it for Would I be better off to drop a 4 barrel on my 351m, find maybe a 400m or even a 460, or will trading out for a small block 351w be better suited for my needs. Im not looking for a race truck by no means. I usually only fire it up when I get out camping, hunting and such. So what do you guys think?

Well I guess to start off with the 351M you have now is not a big block but has the the same rear bolt pattern as a big block.
I think you would be fine with a spiffed up 351M but I would probably go ahead and get the parts to make it a 400. Very easy to do unless you don't feel comfortable with messing with the internals of engines.
