My 95 F-350 has started having starting issues. I worked it pretty hard the other day pulling a trailer all day. Its slow to start in the mornings now, and once its warmed up it will not start at all without the aid of a little starting fluid. Once it starts it runs fine, no loss of power, and runs like it should. But once its turned off, it will have to have a little shot of starting fluid to get going again. Any ideas?? Have you checked the glow plug relay? Stay away from the starting fluid. To check the relay, jump across the two big posts with a screwdriver or something for 10 seconds or so and try to start it.
Starting fluid = bad things to your engine. If it's hit one hot glow plug there could be a back fire causing bent valves.
It seems like you have two things going on.
The hard start when cold is either GP's or GPR. (Do what 427fordman says)
The hard start when hot is most likely IPR o'rings need replacing. Hot oil is leaking past the o'rings due to being thinner than cold oil. It leaks past the o'rings causing a hard/no start.
