I have a 1985 Ford F150 with a 302 and stock carbureted engine. My gas tank is the original Ford unit from 1985, and I was wondering if it would be wise to replace it, or should it still be good?
I guess what I am asking is do gas tanks rust from the inside over time? Does sediment tend to accumulate in the gas tank over time, making the gas prone to going bad or gumming up fuel lines and the carburetor? Is it good preventative maintenance to replace the gas tank after 25 years of service, or should I just leave it alone?
