Original sending unit on new under bed gas tank?

Original sending unit on new under bed gas tank?
I am planning on using a big 25 or 30 gallon blazer gas tank that has the sending unit mounted on to top just like original f1 gas tank does...I wonder if I can use the original f1 sending unit so I can keep original guage. I believe the blazer gas tank is tall enough. What do you guys think?

Getting the F-1 sender to fit in the tank will be the hassle. Getting the float arm adjusted so that you can get accurate tank readings would be the next hurdle. I assume you are retaining 6V system. If not you would have to use a resistor of some kind. If you can get past these obstacles then it should work fine. Sounds like a lot of trouble to go to just to retain the original gas gauge...but it's your truck!

I did it on mine. I took out the big round pick up bung from the donor tank( Dodge Caravan 23 gal EFI) cut all the bullcrap off of it but left the pickup tube. I then used my sender gasket as a template cut and drilled some holes. Bolted my sender to the new tank bung installed it loosley and trial and error adjusted the float arm to the correct range and position. Hopefully your bung is big enough to do the same.
