Need help with numbers!
I'm another new member and the owner of a 47 ford pickup, at least thats what i'm told, I was looking for some help figuring out the numbers i'm finding, first is the frame *IGC<>30I859* it appears to have a 49 v8 and the trans number reads *I8<>3I9029I and inside the glove box door i'm finding Engine number 30 1859 with the model being 5GC, ive gone to vanpelts but not sure what ive got, any help would be great, you have a amazing forum, ive been going through the piles of info.

Welcome to the site, glad to have you here. The 5GC would be a '45 G series 6 cylinder truck. The numbers on the trans were the serial number of the truck that the trans originally came in, not yours. The odd thing, my truck is also originally a G series 6cylinder, how ever the serial number is about 20000 before yours, however mine is a 6GC , or '46 model truck. Errors did happen, and that is around the time of the change from '45 to '46 models. But if you have 5GC on the rating plate, sounds like it could be a '45, not a '47. A '47 6 cylinder half ton would be model 71GC.

Thanks for the info, sounds like i picked up something that has been put together with all different years, im running a title search to see if i can figure out a bit of the history, its going to be a complete restoration with a few mods, we are in the tear down stage with lots of work ahead.
