about 2 weeks ago I got a p0303( misfire on cyl 3) I put a large bottle of techron in tank and I changed the fuel filter. The filter was very very dirty. I cleared the code and it never came back. I do have a hesitation mostly when it is cold. it is not real bad but it is bothersome. I did a fuel pressure test koeo 62, koer 65. these things have been done in the last 5k miles, plugs, wires, pcv, fuel filter, clean maf, cleaned iacv( bought new gasket and i am going to do it again), cleaned TB(I did not remove it), seafoam, Timing belt was replaced 15k ago. I plan on doing a compression test soon. I am suspecting the fuel injector in cyl 3 but I am looking for any and all thoughts. does the in engine injector cleaning service work? how much do I have to spend on a scan tool to get one that would diagnose the issue? The car does not stall. The hesitation is mostly at a moderate rpm. when i step on the gas and gun it it runs fine , no hesitation. all help would be appreciated.
Idid. I had installed bosch plugs and wires about a year ago. The plugs got holes in the tip of them and caused the misfire. I replaced the plugs and wires with Autolites. Runs like a champ!
I am feeling random misfires on my 2.5 as well. No check engine light though. My daughter had some plugs put in some time ago and I don't know what brand they were. There's 8 opportunities for misfires I guess.

Holes in the tip of the plugs?
I just looked it up on my maiantance chart. I installed new Bosch's dp and wires at 109,000 10/2009. I chnged to autolite dp's and wires at 118,000 on 4/4/2010. I had done a seafoam treatment in between and I added a strong mixture of techron also. I was thinking i had a clogged injector problem because i had changed the plugs 7k miles before. Yes there were holes in the white tip part of the plugs about the size of an 8d nail.
if you can get a codereader you can try and find a pendng code. pull a plug out of the passenger side and if it is a bosch or even anything besides a autolite or motrcraft replace them............ also CHANGE THE FUEL FILTER. MINE WAS FILTHY AND PART OF THE PROBLEM. THEY ARE $8 AT WALMART AND THE TOOL IS ABOUT $10.
