PROPOSED: To create an "FTE ONLINE CONTEST FORUM" in the General Group

Background:
Although there is a fan followership of the "FTE Online Championships" ET AL and similar contests we have done over the past several years - there has been a complaint or two about this years "many" contests taking up too much space in the General Automotive Forum (which is one of several in the General Group)

*That has also been a concern of those of us directly involved. We have no wish to create a problem for others who do not care about such contests here...

To alleviate this I have put forward a proposal to ADMIN that a seperate forum in the General Group of Forums (Which also contains General NON-Automotive, and General Automotive) be created which will do several things:
  • It puts any and all such contests in an area of their own where they do not interfere with any other forum
  • It would group them all together so that they could be found more easily by anyone interested in them
  • It creates a place where "Special Interest Vehicles" could also have their own contests
  • Such a forum could also be used for contests by CHAPTERS

I have a response back from IB Adrian that: "Yes, we can do that, but I would like to make sure that the people want this first by polling them"

That is what this is about. The poll is single vote, annonymous, and will end on or about the last day of this month.

*You can add additional comments here in this thread. I was tempted to add another poll option:
"I think all "CONTESTS" like that are stupid and have no place here"

But I have had a huge amount of otherwise inclined inputs towards my activeties here that indicate to me that if it went away, FTE would not be the same... Such a poll option would be disruptive, in my view.

Still, I have to be fair: If you really think that way - feel free to post a poll of your own.
THAT is all I can say about that.

If this is successful - I believe it will open up a whole new dimension here! And one we can take huge pride in...

A sharing and comparing of what we do with our trucks in a way that has never before been done anywhere else online this well
(And I wrote the above without any egotism at all - we stand on unexplored ground. I'd like to see what we can do...)

We have this chance - LET'S TAKE IT! It's a formative moment... What should we do?

I think it's a great idea Dutch. In addition to what you've mentioned above, I think it may even draw more interest, votes, and entrants. If all of the contests were grouped in one forum as are so many other topics, they would be easier for members and visitors to find and view. I voted yes and think it's another of your outstanding ideas.

it is a good idea. i can appreciate the time and effort that goes into a project like this. it opens up the door for everybody to "strut" their stuff, learn from others, and have a little fun. keep up the good work!

I think it would work well as long as there aren't too many polls running at once.

Be careful Anthony - it still isn't a good idea to over extend yourself.

But I think that it will make any and all of them that are running a lot easier to find and navigate. I have no doubt it will make them a lot more noticeable too...

If we get a season or so along, it would also make it possible to go back and look at past years.

We really do stand to gain a lot here.

Sounds like a winning solution to me ... Make things a lot easier to find for posting and voting ... And get a few ideas from others instead of trying to search all the garages ...

If this flies - and it looks like it will - we should prospect for a BRONCO CHAMPIONSHIP manager. sddesigns is already interested in running an EXCURSION one...

BUT FIRST we ought to wait until we see that forum happen.

We can put out some feelers - but let's not get the cart before the horse.

It has been real hard finding the championship entries (i actually used the link i was given when the poll was announced for the Bronco Championship). A forum of it's own would make this a lot more open and i bet a lot more folks would participate.
