Just yesterday my Check Engine Light came on and has been flashing all day. The engine seems to be running quite rough, but I can still drive it. Scanned it today and got a cylinder 1 misfire.
I replaced my spark plugs about 6 months ago, so today, I replaced my plug wires (which have never been changed). However, it is still running rough along with the flashing CEL.
At this point, Im not sure where to go. Do I look for vacuum leaks? Perhaps the o2 sensors? Fuel delivery?
When I have more time later today, I'll pull the plug #1 to see if it can tell me anything, then I'll get back to the board with any info I find. But for now, any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.
UPDATE: I may have found the problem. Upon inspection of the coil/ignition box (on top of the intake manifold), it seems there is no spark being sent to cylinder #1 (which was diagnosed as misfiring by obdII). Basically, I disconnected a few plug wires from the coil box while the engine was running, and sure enough, the one that didn't spark was, of course, cylinder #1.
ADDITIONAL INFO: I forgot to mention that my misfire issue has been a constant misfire and is worst upon acceleration. I can feel it shutter through the steering wheel. The truck dosn't die or pop or anything.
At this point I'm going to try the coil box next. Any thoughts on this strategy before I head out for the parts store this afternoon?
