Hello, I got a 2005 Expedition, Limited. The other day, my garage door wouldn't work after pressing the Home link button. No red light when pressed. Figured fuse must be blown again. This fuse also is responsible for the on demand dome/ map lamps, front, rear and cargo; vanity mirrors, and glove compartment lights, Battery saver relay coil and Battery saver relay power, and the Heated PCV .
Does anyone know if the Exp's are noted for any of these failing? I thought maybe the wife or kid shoved something in the glove compartment and broke the bulb...not that simple. So If anyone knows anything about it, I appreciate some feedback,
dano
alloro,
Not being much of an electrical genius...I can see that the bulbs all work. As far as the relays go, is there a way I can test these things on a volt/ohm meter to see if the thing is bad?
thanks,
dano
I'm not that familiar with the electrical portion of these new trucks. I just picked up the 06 myself! But I believe, you could unplug the PCV heater connector in the engine compartment. If the fuse doesn't blow, likely a short in the PCV Heater wiring, if it doesn't you could at least eliminate that.
Have you recently had something installed in the roof of your Expy?
I pulled the wire to the heated PCV and that wasn't it either. I'm going to pull the sunvisor apart, the one with the home link on it and see if there is something going on there. Other wise, I've heard that the Battery saver relay coils is located behind the fuse box, and is a dealer serviceable item only???!!! Yeah right!
I could be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere on these forums where someone had a wiring harness get pinched by the sunroof. Do a search and see if you can find it. Maybe you are onto something with the homelink harness, or possibly check all other bulbs. By the looks of my stuff, that harness runs from the front to the back of the truck. A lot of the wiring is right above the rearview mirror.
Thanks Expy99,
I did the search, best that came in was water leaks in roof. I was going to take out the sun visor today and look at that stuff but my wife made off with my EXp. while I went gun shopping with my bro in law.

Hello all,
As I started to remove the sun visor, I noted that it is held in by torx screws...except for one, a phillips! Hmmm, has someone worked on this before??? Of course they have, they ran the darn thing right through the wire that goes to the home link buttons!! I'm going to try and attach a picture, it thats possible. I don't know, I don't do this stuff all the time. Okay I guess I can't attach a picture, so I'll try and put one in a gallery and figure it out from there.
Thanks to all that offered their advise and help,
dano
I don't know what I'm doing. I thought I was going to put some pictures of my work in a gallery, but I don't know how to do it. Can some one guide me.
