Trans cooler
I recently had my trans mission rebuilt "heavy duty" and had a larger capcity external trans cooler added. My mechanic "piggy backed" the new to the old and said it would provide better low speed cooling because the original cooler is still in the fan path. Ive not heard of this being done and was wondering if this is a good idea....also wondering what the operating temp of the trans should be in stock cooler form and what to expect with the higher capacity added on. Thanks in advance for your help.

"Piggy back" trans coolers are just fine. As long as your temps don't get much over 200° you are fine- they vary a lot with outside temp and the type of driving you are doing (stop and go city driving, highway driving, towing, etc).
