New headlight bulbs

Hey everybody, I am new here and just had some questions that hopefully you guys can answer.

I recently just got my self a new truck. 2001 Ford Ranger xlt 4x4 Super Cab. Right now it is currently in the shop getting the slip yoke problem fixed (feel really stupid for not doing it myself).

Any way I was wondering if there is a cheap solution to get the same effect of HID headlights with my stock ones. I saw these on ebay but don't know if I can trust them or not.

Craig.

The only way you are going to get more light by changing bulbs is to replace them with higher wattage bulbs which would probably be illegal. The Silverstars and similar bulbs that are DOT approved have whiter light but no more light (lumens) than any other bulb that is DOT approved.

The brightest halogen light I have tried, and it can push the limit of legal, is the Sylvania Xtravision. However, to get the most out of them, you need an upgraded headlight harness. I have an Aerostar, which is known for its poor light output. On low, my lights are almost as bright as the high beams on my moms van of the same model. But before I installed the harness, you couldn't really tell the difference.

Before you get too much deeper into this or hear too much information or misinformation, please read this.
