Hey guys! im david.
i drive a 01 b3000 Dual Sport.
well now that i got a job and im finally financially better.. i wanna upgrade my truck. also.. having one tire spinning during a burnout sucks. anything i can do to make them both spin??
and probably a new instrument cluster?
i want something not too expensive. but good.
also some cosmetics to make it look good outside. i wanna have that sleeper look.
so far wat ive done to it. is
-Apexi AFC neo
-HKS Air Filter
- Walbro Fuel pump
-Blacked out the mazda symbol and smoked out the corner and tailights.
- yellow fog lights.
-L.E.D. tail lights and license plate lights.
- 20% tint on front windows. and i guess. 30% in the back.
i really wanna get a black bull bar cause im trying to keep the truck with the white and black color scheme.
anyffink u guys wanna throw out there lmk. i wanna get as much info as i can.
also wanted to know what would be the max size of tires that i can fit.
To help the both spin, you need a better limited slip diff. The stock one lets one tire slip a lot.
The 3.0L is not that responsive to performance mods, at least not in my personal experiences. A muffler can help, but yields more noise than go. A complete intake can help but stay away from oiled filter elements, go with the new dry synthetics such as AFE.
A tuner can get the most out of the other mods you do. I recommend either Diablo or Bama. I hear Hypertech is good too.
Also use stock ignition components, they are by far the best. The performance parts yield little real world benefit, and wear out quickly.
You could get a couple of the R/T stickers for the rear window, and a few of the Japanese kanji stickers for it. I hear those things add a few horsepower! Also, get a small fire extinguisher and paint it blue, put a NOS sticker on it, like the poser, fart can muffler cars on the road.
dat was pretty gay. but im no ricer. im just trying to make my truck a lil better.it just the daily driver.
c'mon bro dat was kinda imature. if ur not gonna help then stay out of the topic.
The 3.0L is tough motor, I do think they respond well to forced induction. Thats probably a lot more than you want to spend, but thats a good way to go if you really want to put some power down.
Wait a minute. You call my (lame) attempt at humor immature yet you describe your truck this way:
-Blacked out the mazda symbol and smoked out the corner and tailights.
- yellow fog lights.
-L.E.D. tail lights and license plate lights.
- 20% tint on front windows. and i guess. 30% in the back.
And then claim you aren't a ricer? C'mon. I was trying to have a little fun. Sorry it came across as anything else. You said you aren't looking to spend a lot, yet you're serious about adding a SC? Let me know if you can find a decent add on for your truck- for less than a grand. Also, don't accuse me of being immature when you are the one who needs his truck to spin both wheels during a burnout.
You'll get lots of good advice from this forum, and generally, a lot of humor, too. Since you got some good advice for gaining horsepower from Bear River, I thought I'd add a little of the latter.
sry didnt mean it to come off like dat.
u gotta have fun evryone once ina while trying to doa burnout..
i know evryone has done one or tried to do one.
and hmm.. sc. well that would be wayy later on when i get like 1200 bucks together.
wat about a welded diff? i have done dat with my corolla but dont think anyone has done it in a truck..any suggestions?
Um, a welded diff in a truck? That is a new idea!! Brilliant!!
That would be the thing NOT to do for a daily driver. Your rear would skip and chirp around corners, wear your tires out faster, and if you drive in snow or ice, provide zero lateral support.
Straight line racers and off-roaders can get away with it, but not a vehicle that hasta turn on pavement.
A limited slip would be the way to go, but your looking at a few hundred bucks plus labor to install, just to be able to leave two black marks.
And if you are gonna do that, getting lower gears will help power wise, by getting your rpms up at whatever speed and giving your engine more leverage to turn the tires. Although it'll hurt your fuel economy a bit.
I dunno if the FX4 rangers came with LS or not....I wanna say yes...I'd look for one and swap the whole rear, since it'll probably have the lower gearing you want as well.
Ever think about swapping in a 4.0 v6 into your truck? That is probably the least expensive performance upgrade. You would not lose any MPG, might gain some. I have the 4.0 in mine and it is alomost overpowered for our little trucks. I like it.
The 4.0 will respond a little better to "Bolt On" mods also.
