Runs great at idle and around town. But today it cut off on me and I could not drive it home safe it would start again but run very rough shakes and sputters. Could I be 1 tooth off? Any help would be great. I am a US Army Soldier that normally shoots and fixes big 70 ton M1A1 Tanks. Thank you all very much in advance. Bill

Hey Bill, I'm betting after it ran ok, your timing either moved (dist. not tightened down, I've been guilty of this) or you've got fuel problems. Have you checked your fuel filter?

Being a tooth off will not bother you any as long as rotor points to #1 at TDC and wires are properly placed. I'd check the same things suggested and bump that timing up a bit. Take it up to 10*BTDC w/ vacuum plugged at carb and see what happens. ProComp dizzy's are getting a bad rap for quality issues. If you narrow it down to the dizzy, I'd go back with the Duraspark. Tried and true. Double check all those vacuum lines/plugs. I had one disappear somehow. Pull the idle mix screws all the way out, remembering the settings and blow out the passage with air hose. Check your choke for proper operation, cable could have slipped. Just a few things to keep you busy.

Hello thanks for the info. I marked the dist. when it was timed and it is in the same spot. I have a new gas tank, pump, lines and filter with nothing in it. Someone told me maybe the line is too close to the headers (vapor lock). Well now I have to fix the leaf springs the roll back guy broke one during the tow. Thanks again, Bill
