I posted this on the 73-79 forum but haven't gotten anyone that has tried....surely there are some guys on this forum that has?
Has anyone bolted up a set of Mustang Shorty headers and X Pipe to their 5.0 or 302 with a c4 or c6 transmission. I have the shorty headers on my '92 5.0 block in my '73 F100 and it looks like a set of Mustang X or H pipes would fit just like a normal mustang bolt up. I read on some of the Mustang forums of guys that had made the switch from t-5's to c4's and all said that is was an easy swap, but none mentioned any exhaust clearance issues around the transmission. I can pick up a pre-fabbed setup for reasonable $$$ and contemplating taking my chances on fit. I have cutting tools and welder if minor tweaking is needed. If it doesn't fit, cut and weld right?
It may, but it darn sure looks like it will work. Where the shortys fall on my '73 it looks like it will clear frame, firewall for sure...and I do not have 4wd. I think I am going to try, and if I have to cut and tweak that's fine, I was going to build my own custom anyway...was just trying to save a little work. Just wanted to see if anyone had already tried.
Hey 73, let me know if that H or X pipe works out, I would love to have that mustang sound on my truck with all the upgrades I have already done to my engine in my 92
Will do ... I am going to give it a shot. It may be a month or so, but I will let you know. I would like that same growl as well....but if this just works without a lot of mods I'll be a happy camper!
