my regular in tank electric fuel pump is running weak at 41psi when it should be between 50-60 psi. if i put an inline electric fuel pump in to assist my regular pump will that work out ok. i am looking at a fuel pump that pumps 840 lbs/hr at 60psi so i'm hoping this will work out ok. anybody have any advice?
The concern I would have is the inline pump starving if the OEM pump finally decides to fail. Unless the inline unit is capable of self-priming from the distance from the tank that it will end up when installed.
Out of curiosity, what makes you certain the pump is the problem? Since there is no provision for checking pump pressure on the truck, I am curious how you checked it. 41 PSI at the fuel rail (Schrader valve) is acceptable.
i have replaced the pump now. 300 6's require 50-60psi unlike thier V8 counterpart which operate in 40's, according to my book anyway. the way i checked my pressure at pump was i took the fuel line off at the fuel filter and put a gauge there and bullheaded straight into the gauge. my new pump is giving me an even 60psi using same method to test it
