I am looking at a 47 F100 and wondering if the guy is asking too much? It has a mid 70s 302, and a C4 all working, but mileage unknown. The body is pretty straight, very little rust, and in primer.. Needs a couple of patches, and paint. Bed is a chunk of plywood (should it be wood strips or metal?) Needs glass all around and interior is there, but not so pretty. 12 volt, and new AM gauges in dash and new duel exhaust. Wheels and tires pretty new. Sounds good but have not driven it yet..
Whats the range of value for something like this in today's economy?
Is it possible to post some pics? Its hard to say what its really worth. What might seem excessive to one, might seem to be fair to another person. What are a couple of patches and what type are they? (Could be door bottoms, but could also be cab corner) Bed floor was either wood & metal strips of all steel. Is the 302 built up, or was it pulled out of the 70's vehicle and put in the truck? Is the trans the same way? Is there glass in it now or is all the glass out of it?
You could be looking at anywhere between $400.00 to $9000.00+
Here is a link to some pics. Patches it may need are minor, one hole in the bed about silver dollar size, maybe 1 other small one. Engine sounds quite nice, but no details..
Its more or less gonna depend on what you want to spend as what is a fair price to you. With the pics and info at hand, I would pay around $2500 to $3500. There is one on EBAY for sale, but it is modified big time and has a buy it now price of $11,000.00
See if others reply as well though. I bought my 47 2 years ago for $400....but then it basically needs alot of work....its real rough and all original, plus a one ton so it makes finding some parts real hard.
Just found another one on Ebay with a reserve of $2000....but its missing the bed and is stripped down and on a different chassis
I bought my 47 about 2yrs ago...Body is good, needs some minor work...had a flat 6 in it with all original wiring and parts. I paid 4500.00 and drove it home. I've fixed a few things since then but for the price I didn't think it was a bad deal.
Photos can be seen in my Gallery.
I bought 2 non running ones plus a Sun distributor machine in Eastern Oregon 2 weeks ago for $900.00 and felt like I got a good deal so $3000-$5000 would be a fair deal if its driveable. These trucks are still off the radar as far as serious collectors are concerned, whcih is why I can afford 1/2 dozen of them.
