putting in new headlights and taillights and want to have brighter brake lights and corner lights. Thought about going with LED but hard to find the tail lights. Any idea what halogen bulb upgrade can be done for the brakelights? I think the bulbs are 3047 stock. Let me know what ya'll think.
It should be 3057 I believe, I haven't heard of 3047 in any case, usually they end in 57 or 56. LEDs don't do a good job of filling the reflector with light, so they create more a spot on the lens than lighting the whole lens. There are some interchange guides with bulbs of the same socket but different wattages. The higher the wattage, the brighter the light output.
No, you need to find higher wattage bulbs with the base you already use. The sockets are tabbed to fit into the housing, there are fingered sockets which fit nearly any hole, but your still stuck with either round or wedge bases.
I can't find the interchange link now, but there are some sources on line similar to this Light Bulb Replacements that will give you the base style and light output for several different numbered bulbs. Match the base and use the highest output.
