Sticking front disks....

I believe my calipers are sticking, basically causing rubbing and wear on the rotors/pads that is much faster than it should be. One side is worse than the other, but both are doing it. I am going to assume calipers or brake lines. Can do both sides with both using autozone parts for around $120. Is this a normal problem with rangers? With my MX6 it was known that rear calipers would seize over time, just wondering if it was something that others have come across so I know if I am going the right direction. Only other thing I can see would be the master cylinder..but would expect even wear on both sides with that.

Have you checked the caliper pins? They need to be lubed so the calipers can slide back and forth easily. You can do that and save yourself the $120. A Haynes or Chilton manual will help you do this job.

Good point. If you clear this and still have an issue, find out if the stock calipers and any replacements use plastic or steel pistons. Get steel, either have someone rebuild them or search them out that way.

My '85 had plastic, now has steel. No more stick 'em.

I already did a good lube. have done the brakes 2 times in the last year due to this and made sure to get them good and greased. Will check out the steel. When were they used?

I put remans on my 94 only about $20 per. Good pads were about 35. Now if you are talking about the rotors they ran about $50 each, then add new bearings etc.

But 120 seems high unless thes are new and not remans.
