47 1/2 ton 6 cyl oil pressure
Hi folks, new here and seems like a ton of info.
have a original 47 6 cyl . Engine was pulled about 25 years ago and rebuilt. When started it had no oil pressure and it was shut off. I found that if I back fill some oil through the sending unit port, It will keep good pressure at idle and up, about 40 lbs. Let it sit 1 hr and start it, no pressure. I took out the relief valve and checked it out, seems ok.
Coud they have left something out such as a check valve or any Ideas. This truck was my Grand pops, my dads and now mine. Its been mine since 1983 and finally getting around to restoring it. Cant rush into these things you know. I drove it in high school in 73 so Its a part of me. Just cant figure this one out.

Sounds like the oil pump wont prime itself.....was the pump replaced when the engine was rebuilt? If not, it's probably worn out. The oil pumps on these engines were known to fail......I'd pull the pan and check it out. Good luck, T/M
