I have started to feel the "thump" during initial acceleraton in my 2007 F-150, which appears to be due to slip yoke. I bought the special ford grease and my next obstacle is figuring out how exactly I get the slip yoke out. Ive read numerous theads and TSBs regarding this issue which only reference Section 205-01 of the F-150 Workshop Manual for drive shaft removal instructions. Could anyone give me some insight on a correct procedure. It appears I should begin by dropping the drive shaft first by removing the pins at the U-joints (index marking, of course), but I would prefer knowing a approved/successful method before diving right in. Thanks!
Thanks for the fast replies. Still just slightly confused though...
There are no bolts on the slip yoke side of the drive shaft (next to the center bearing), just a U-joint with clip pins. However, there are bolts on the rear-end gear side of the drive shaft. Are those the bolts you are referring to? I just remove those bolts, drop the shaft, and pull the shaft out the slip yoke? Thanks again.
