Hi folks. I am in the process of installing a 1970 mustang 22 gal tank between/under the rear frame rails and removing the original style under seat unit. My question is surrounding the sending unit. I purchased a like new used tank with existing 10-70ohm sending unit with fuel line in it. I have changed to aftermarket gauges that will require a 240-33.5 ohm sending unit. What have you done? Have you had the existing sending unit rheostat with tube modified or added an additional sending unit to match the new gauge? If you did add a new sender where did you place it in the tank? I appreciate the help.

Look at Auto Meter 3262 [Summit or JEGS] which matches your specs and is adjustable to tank dimensions. Also VDO and Dakota Digital have aftermarket sending units. I used a Dakota unit in my 47 1/2 with a Tanks, Inc. UG-3 Tank.

 

Thanks for the info. So I assume then I would leave the existing sending unit and pickup tube(single assembly) assembly in the front lower portion and add a new after market pickup through the top portion of the tank, which would require drilling etc to complete.

 

Yes, but it may be easier to drill and insert a new pickup tube.
