Hi fellas, My 97' f250 7.3 psd started fine after work around 4:30pm, I got home about 5:30pm. At around 7:30-8:00pm I went to start it up, and all it will do is roll over, and it wont light up! Its well below zero here, but it was plugged in and I keep generous amounts of powerservice in it. As it is turning over, it kinda seems like it might be rolling over faster than normal. I thought maybe it had gelled up on me, so I pulled the fuel filter out, removed some of the fuel in the bowl and added 911 additive, and reinstalled the filter. but it didn't make any difference. PLEASE HELP!
Do you have smoke from tail pipe when turning over.....Is tach moving?????If not its your CPS
also check fuse #22 under hood...if its blown unplug the fuel heater on the side of the fuel bowl and replace fuse
I'll check it out in just a little bit when the wife gets out of the shower so she can watch our 19 month old monster who should have been asleep two hours ago! I'll let you know.
OK, so I replaced the cps, nothing! still wont start. number 22 fuse under the hood isn't blown, and there is no smoke coming from the exhaust when cranking.
Have you checked the other fuses? Another trick to try is to unplug the ICP (sensor bolted to the driver's side head up front- 3 wire connector going to it) and try to start- this will put the truck in limp mode but should let it start if the ICP is bad. Have you verified that the pump is pumping fuel? HPOP reservoir full? UVCH connections tight?
yes, the wait to start light does come on, I havent unhooked the ICP sensor yet, or anything else other than the CPS sensor. My father in law just dropped off his scanner, I was going to see if and what codes come up.
I unplugged the icp sensor, still nothing. all fuses under hood look good. pulled codes, one was, something air circuit, which has been there since I installed a k&n gen II cold air intake kit, and the other was, keep alive memory.
Oil level is good, I haven't checked fuel pressure, but it seems like its just not getting fuel into the cylinders. the injectors dont even seem to be clicking when engine is cranking.
what should the fuel pressure be, can I check it at the shrader valve on the drivers side of the fuel bowl area where the fuel line comes in? after that, what should I check?

Yes, that is where you should check it. A stick type tire gauge works if you don't have a real pressure gauge. It should idealy be around 50PSI but probably lower if just cranking. I think I read somewhere it needs to be at least 20PSI when starting.
