Restoration guide/book for old ford pickups?

My 13 year old son is begining a restoration project on a 1937 Ford half ton pickup. Does anyone know of a good book that has details of these trucks?

Like, are those holes supposed to be there in the side of the cowl and wiring diagrams and all that stuff. THanks, Joel

Joel, your son (and I assume you are going to join in on the fun) is not starting any too soon. My son and I started rebuilding a '40 when he was a junior in high school. We didn't get it drivable until he was a junior in college. Once they go away to school, it is hard to get together to work on projects like these. Jake studied abroad in Germany for 4 months last year and just completed a 6 month internship there. He made me promise that I would not do any major work on the truck while he was away. It still needs the bed assembled and installed. The project was the inspiration for most of his birthday and Christmas gifts over the last several years. What kid can resist a shiny new hood molding all wrapped up? In the mean time, it is licensed and insured and I drive it occasionally to keep it limber. We acquired an original shop and chassis manual for it that was invaluable. There is this and other forums to consider also. The Early Ford guys on these many forums are very knowledgeable and willing to disseminate information. Some may think my methods are harsh but Jake and I entered into a contract with regards to the pickup. He was to keep his grades up, show a continued interest in the project, help financially during the rebuild and keep a clean driving record. He has managed well on all counts and when he graduates from college, he will receive the truck free and clear for his efforts. Good luck on your project. Steve
