wondering where some of you superduty guys have gotten your '08 stuff?
in my searching i have been able to find the tail gates and one used step set up but none complete.
obviously the dealership but these new '08-'09 tail gates are expensive.
FWIW im in So Cal
when I first saw them I thought it was a pretty cool idea. However I've talked to 3 different guys that had them come on their 2008's .. and all 3 hate 'em .. the step itself is okay .. but the tailgate itself, step up bar, etc .. is what they hate.
If you flip the tailgate open, and look at it, there's a rise on both sides of where the step bar rests. That's the biggest complaint - it' keeps the tailgate from being flat so using your tailgate to work on something is problematic. It's also not comfortable to sit on either.
yeah i know what your saying about how the inside of the tail gate is with that pole, i have a snug top with a bed rug that are going to be over it, i might need to cut or mod the bed rug so it will work (no worries).
the main reason i am looking at this system is that i have a really bad knee and need a better way/step to get the back of the truck

What TNT in Round Rock said plus I had a total knee replacement done in 12/07, thought the step would be helpful... it is not. Basicly the step is a $300 pain in the butt. I would cheerfully trade even for a regular tailgate

Before you go out and spend the $$$ on a tailgate w/ step, you may want to make sure it is compatable with your topper. The trim piece at the top of the tailgate w/ step curves out to accomodate the step and this will not allow the back glass to completely close if your topper is not one of the newer ones designed for a tailgate w/ step...

I have the Leer 100XQ cap, specific for the 2008 F250SD, 8' box with step tailgate. It does not fit properly for the reasons Powerstroke HD mentions. When closed there is a gap up the sides of 1/4 ",and the glass door is scraping the paint at the top. Dust, dirt rain and snow are drawn into the box when traveling. Bob
