Unhappy Tailgate Emblem Is falling off..

So I have had my 08 for about 2 months now. I LOVE the truck, mileage is bad but not as bad as I was told. Runs great and feels solid, much improved from my 03. Anyways, I noticed today the the rear tailgate emblem in the middle was starting to come off a little. It is a black truck, so in the heat it gets VERY hot. I am guessing that the heat has made the adhesive on the backside of the emblem start to lose strength. I did not pull it off all the way, because it looks as if it has just started. However, you can move it back and forth a little, so it will probably fall off on it's own eventually.

My question is this, is it really just adhesive holding it on there? Or is it clipped in as well. This truck is to new for things to start falling off it

It was built jan of 08, so it sat in the hot sun at the dealer for quite a while unfortunately.
Thanks

Mine "fell" off the first week I had the truck...somehow the SUPERDUTY lettering "fell" off at the same time.

P.S. The picture is of the F350 I had first before upgrading to the 450...the tailgate migrated to the new truck.

Kane,

These trucks are to expensive to accept this and say it sat in the sun for a long time. Bring it in and make the dealer fix it. Don't feel bad about having FORD fix their problems. I am a huge FORD supporter but if they made an error they need to fix it. You have a warranty. The emblem should not be falling off. My guess is someone at the assembly plant didn't do their job correctly in some way and that is why it is failing. My emblem is just fine and my truck is in the FL sun everyday. I am assumming that not many emblems are failing because I haven't heard of this problem before. Just my 2 cents.

3M makes some pretty strong double sided tape. I would search online and get some. That should take care of the issue.

Thanks for all your guys feedback, I appreciate very much. It seems to go back to normal once the truck cools down. But when it is really hot, it seems like you could pull it off really easily. It is a little strange actually. If it does, believe me it will be going to ford. They can fix the rear seat cup holder as well, that will not snap in place in the rear fold down middle cup holder.

Thanks man. Do you think ford is losing their quality on certain things? I feel like this truck is better quality than my 03, but when I first bought it, and noticed the rear cup holder falling not even clipped in, I was a little concerned. But more importantly to me is the longevity of the powertrain, I will post some pics of the rear cup holder, maybe some of your guys trucks are like this

Not had a problem with anything on my '08 to date. I bought the 100,00 mile warranty to make sure I am covered if something does go wrong.

If you didn't buy the warranty I strongly recommend that you do.

I do not think FORD is losing quality with their products. I actually think they are a lot more quality oriented than the other 2 of the big 3 and even some of the jap companies. I think their trucks are totally top notch.

However, they do make mistakes. You got to remember how many of these trucks they put on the road and how many parts and pieces actually go into one of these trucks.

There are going to be some things that go wrong so make it be on FORD's dime.

I have an '06 and an '05 and I have had very little go wrong with them but there have been several small issues that have made my warranties worth the money.

If my emblem falls off of the TG, I would clean up the remaining adhesive with the appropriate solvent and leave it off. I think the gate looks better clean.
