NEED HELP!!! I broke the EPS off in the damn bracket!!

Ok, so I wanted to change the tube that was getting corroded and clean out the Exhaust Pressure Sensor because I was getting a code and it was running a bit crappy. Well, I follwed Guzzles directions and used a deepwell 1" socket to take off the sensor. Unfortunately it just snapped right the hell off. So now I had to get another sensor from the dealer ($153) and I still gotta take the piece out of the bracket it's in. I tried to use an easy-out, but the damn bracket is just twisting. I think it't the same piece that is the HPOP gear cover?

So anyone got any ideas where I can go from here? Can I take the cover off without oil gushing all over the driveway? It's only held on with 2 bolts. I can't get a drill in there......

HELP!!

Did you try putting a wrench on the nut on the bottom side of the bracket while using the easy out? That should keep the bracket from twisting.

Damn, I forgot about that. I'll try to wrench it back to where it's supposed to be, and then see if I an break it loose with a wrench on it. I put plenty of PB Blaster on it too.

It's only a bracket. I looked at it when I changed mine, and mine was the same price. I would take the bracket off and it should be easer to take the rest of the sensor off. I would be surprised if the bolts go into the block. But I don't know for sure. I would take the chance.

You can take the bracket off without oil pouring out. I took mine off when I did my EBPS. The nipple that the tube attaches to on the underside was galled and I had to chase it. I too was apprehensive about removing it but had to in order to make the repair to the threads. Take it off and don't sweat it . There's a little gear behind it, no oil.

Mine started twisting also(the bracket) when i was taking mine apart, not very sturdy to say the least.

Well I got it all done about an hour ago. I took off the plate, drilled and tapped the fitting, applied a bead of black RTV and stuck it back on. Although the new tube was bent different, it went on no problem, as I started the bottom first.

I also swapped out my spare black CPS for the stupid grey one, which will now be my spare until I get another black one. Of course I didn't wear my gloves, so as I busted the CPS bolt loose I proceeded to rip off a 1"x.25" patch of skin from my right hand hehe.

Thanks again for ya'lls help- I tried to rep everyone, but the rep police said pass some more around first...

Glad you got it done Danny. I'm also glad to hear I'm not the only one who rips that chunk of skin off his hand breaking the stupid little bolt loose.
