hey all- 2000 NAvigator
Up until yesterday this is the way my navigator normally worked. When you opened the drivers door, the interior/exterior lights would come on. also, when i turned off the ignition, the radio stayed on until either the driver or passenger door was opened, then it would power off.
NOW when i open the driver door, no lights come on. when i turn the ignition off and open the door, the radio stays on. i noticed if i open the passenger side, the lights come on and the radio turns off.
it is acting like the drivers door is never opened?? FYI- last year i had the exact opposite problem out of the driver's door, it acted like the door was always open and the "door ajar" light stayed on, so i replaced that door switch(which was a pain in the butt!!) think it has gone bad again??? thanks
thanks, i have sprayed it with wd-40 the last 2 days and cycled it several times. i was wondering if anyone else had another idea as to fix this without replacing that switch, again. thanks
If the WD-40 trick doesn't work, then either the wiring harness got disconnected from the switch or the switch is no good. Of course there could be a break in the wiring from the switch to under the dash somewhere, but you don't want to start tracing that out as your first step.
