It has been so long since I started to replace my oil pan that I seem to have forgotten something. I just put back in today the blasted and painted radiator support and inner aprons. So as I put all back in that was attached to these parts as I can't recall how the alternator harness passes by the battery and battery tray. Got all these parts around me, and I remember where they go, all except for the harness. My guess is that it runs down along between the battery and the radiator...?
Mike - I'm in the middle of the same job, anyone answering Mike - I'm looking for HOW the alternator mounts. My shop manual shows it mounting high slightly below the top pulley, the former owner had it mounted low, near the balancer. I'm thinking he cobbled this together to use a fan belt he had rather than buy a new belt. I need to see how the two alternator mounting brackets attach on a 352.

Mike, you are correct, runs along the top between the support and radiator. Have a 65, ran harness thru the plastic flex sheathing, has the slit down the center, and used 4 sheathing connectors that snap into holes running along the upper backside of support. Used couple of small ties to secure harness inside the sheathing. I replaced the harness about 5 yrs ago recently checked and the harness looked new. Also applied dab of dielectric grease to connectors and ground strap joints, did this with all the new harnesses I replaced at the time. Anyhow, had an urge to chime in.
Ok, the truck is at home so here goes. The alternator does mount high. The triangular bracket mounts to the water pump through its two bolt holes. The single hole gets the long bolt with the special spacer taking up the space between the alternator boss and the head. The swing adjusting arm, as I call it, mounts above the whole assembly which makes it look upside down as compared to my Mustang and Cougar. This arm has one hole for the water pump and it is right behind the fan pulley. The slot in the arm is self-explanatory. I would post a picture but I need to take them tonight to document the work I have done.
