F150 Econoline Van Horn, Cruise, SRS failure
Here's what I've checked so far. All fuses have been visually inspected and tested with a light. They are all good.
Everything is hot in the power distribution box, except the three 5-10 amp fuses immediately below the EEC diode. The components which these are related to are all in working order (fuel pump, turn signals, and running lights). The 15 amp fuse which the owners manual says is in the circuit that the horn in on is hot.
For interior fuses, about half are hot with the key off. All are hot with the key turned on except #13-- a five amp fuse which the users manual describes as "Instrument panel illumination lamps, remote convenience module."
Next, I removed the air bag (yes, I disconnected the battery and waited to ensure the aux. power source discharged before fooling with the air bag-- I know this is supposed to be done by a pro, but hey, it's sitting on the back seat now and I still have all my parts intact) so I could get at the wiring and switches. I disconnected the connectors and checked for voltage with ignition both on and off-- it's always dead. I identified the wire colors and tried to trace the wiring back, but gave up temporarily-- too many wires.
That's where I am now. I don't know what the "remote convenience module" is, nor how to identify it.
Does this ring any bells with anyone? Any suggestions?
