Replacing an '86 300 with an '82 300-wiring problems/computer?

I have an '82 300 that I plan on putting in an '86 truck. The only problem is the '86 has all the computer crap and other electronic junk while the '82 engine doesn't. So is the switch possible without fouling up the rest of the truck? Thanks, Jake

what ive done and what i do to all my rigs to get away from the computer/module/sensor mess is simply replace the ignition. my 77 uses a 74 points distributor with a jacobs elec ignition module(fits in place of points). and on my 86 ive used a mallory unilite distributor(elec ignition system with everything contained under the cap, incl. module. Iam fond of the first one knowing that if i ever suspect the module as a problem i can just replace it with the points with two screws.

I assume the change doesn't mess anything else up? I really despise the electronic crap that is on the newer vehicles. That is why I like the '70's through early '80's Ford trucks.
Thanks for the input, Jake

it shouldnt. think of it this way. the computer is designed to keep the engine running even if something is wrong hence all those sensors. for example if the truck is running too hot the temp sensor tells this to the computer, and then the computer tells the distributor to fire differently to compensate and run more smoothly. I myself prefer to feel every little quirk or problem so I can stay on top of it rather than drive on and on without ever knowing somethings wrong. when you install a new ignition system you are bypassing the computer all together.computer?module?
