There is no VIN number on this truck. VIN's were not used prior to 1948.
The truck is registered by the engine number aka the serial number, but don't be surprised if it doesn't match what's on the registration.
If the engine was replaced by a Ford dealer, they would stamp the original number on the replacement engine, but if the engine was swapped by a previous owner, the numbers won't match.
Look for the engine/serial number on the "hogshead" (clutch housing) and on the engine block.
Some serial numbers were also stamped on the frame, adjacent to the steering gear box.
There is no info on the engine that will help you figure year, ND mentioned "clutch housing", but I'm pretty sure he's confused that with the tranny case itself...Ford didn't stamp the flatheads, figuring (general consensus) that the engine would be changed, but the tranny would live on.
Now if it were a 1/2 ton (again, not sure on thelarger trucks) you should have a sn stamped behin) the steering box (on top side of frame) and another on the top rear driverside frame rail.
You have either a '35 or a '36, I'd have to look at the side shot of the grill and also the hood sides to verify the year...the '35 grill is "shorter"-from where it touches the hood sided to the front of the grill, and the "V8" logo on a 35 is in the center of the louvers, and the '26 is towards the front of the louvers...(oly way I can tell'em apart).
