Hey guys.... figured I'd introduce myself and throw a few pictures your way. 24 year old, just graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Mechanical and Jet Turbine engineering degree and currently in the middle of my 1947 Ford 1.5 Ton dually truck build. Heres her platform stats.
1947 Ford 1.5Ton
Sitting on a 1993 GM P-30 Chassis
Independent Coil-Over w/ Front 13" Disc Brakes
GM 14Bolt 4:10 Dually rear end with 13.5" x 4" Drum brakes
Cummins 4BT 4cylinder Turbo Diesel (Build in 1993, Recon'd in 2004)
ZF-S542 transmission out of a 1994 Ford F-350
47ford1.5ton, believe it or not, i considered doing EXACTLY the same build on my 42. decided to keep this one stock, i am a bit nostalgic. looking for the right truck to do this conversion to. 4bt is very reliable, although noisy, doesn't weigh too much, and has the torque to get job done. it also fits quite well without cobbing truck up. ideal truck would be a 51-2 f5 or bigger with awd. found exellent candidate on another forum, but don't think i will have a chance to buy. will be checking in on you from time to time
That's awesome! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one doing a diesel swap too (Ford/ IHI 6.9 + 4 speed into my '49 F-5). Keep us informed on how the build goes - that's a truck I can't wait to see finished.
I Have a 1.5 ton bus and I am looking into air suspension for it as well. Thanks
BTW Truck is looking great Keep up the great work, You are keeping me motivated to get mine completed.
You got to rememeber that my chassis is a GM P-30 chassis
but my air suspension bags are Slam Specialties HE-7's (Up to 400 psi)
Running dual 480C Viair compressors into a 8 gallon storage tank..... all plumbed through 3/8" hose and valves (SMC)
