I have a '88 F250 with a couple of dual tank issues, first of all if I'm running on the rear tank the fuel returns in the front tank.... not an isssue if trhe front tank is empty, but if both tanks are full the front tank will overflow. If the front tank is empty I run on the back tank until I'm out of gas and switch to the front and I"ll have about a half a tank in the front tank.
Second issue, running the front tank the fuel gauge stays on full until I have about half a tank, then it works OK. If I'm running the back tank it stays on full, even after the tank runs out of gas??
As for the return lines ... You might have to change to a selector that has 2 return lines ...
As to the rear tank gauge ... Check the ground from the tank to the frame ... Sometimes there is rubber on the tank straps and that can insulate the gauge from the frame ... And grounding your tank is a good thing anyway ...
magusjinx, thanks for the reply...... just crawled under the truck and found what I think is the selector switch, four lines coming out the back, two on top and two on the bottom. Just ahead of the switch is a fuel pump and just ahead of the pump is the filter. I'll look again later an see what I find on the grounds.
Parts-Guy, got your web page saved in favorites, magusjinx I'll run the lines out tomorrow...... there's four lines coming out of the valve, I sure you're right on the two for each tank. What is the correct name for the valve?? I did a search on Parts-Guy's site..... didn't find it, most likely got the name wrong. Thanks.
There are two different gassers. One is marked: E7TB9B263AB = The original part number (E7TZ9B263A) has been updated. Even with all the resources I have, I couldn't find the new number.
The other is F1UZ9B263B / MSRP: $135.00 / ftepartsguy.com price: $72.90 / F1UZ9B263B is an updated part number, the marking reflects only the new part number, and may not match the original.
Thanks everyone for the help, sorry I didn't say in my post it's a 460. Number Dummy if you would be so kind to give me the correct part number I can put in my note to Parts-Guy. Iantiler

I'm not sure what the correct number is. Ford lists two, and one number won't come up...it's been replaced, but what with I dunno.
Look at your old valve for the ID number.
If you can't find it, just give Ed the application.
