I've tried a few different things but always got 9.2-9.8mpg out of my big red X, I finally installed a Fitch Fuel Catalyst because I knew in my area fuel quality was an issue. I'm now getting 10.6-11mpg regularly and have gotten a high of 11.3. I'm not gonna complain about a solid 1-1.5mpg gain but if any knows of anything else to try let me know. Maybe one of those Hydrogen generators that hooks into the air intake?
I agree with the Monst. on this ! Even on the same trip, differences between "full-up checked" fuel mileage can be substantial. Even a change in wind direction AND/OR wind speed, can make 2 mpg or more difference when towing big box trailers. On my last trip to Southern Calif., I found at LEAST 2 mpg difference between 65 mph cruising speed and 55 mpg. I've noted previously average of 4.5 mpg on the long up-hill grade pulling our 11,000 lb boat and trailer up from our favorite launching place on Lake Mead, up to Kingman, in Arizona ( going from about 1,1,00 ft to 4,000 ft. in around 70 miles, with substantial head-winds.
For those who STILL arent convinced that Mons. is correct, I have for sale a "special" on a hydrogen generator flux-gate, powered by a horny squirrel running around in a cage......
hey ... throw a handfull of mothballs in your tank it'll get you 50 MPG and I'll only charge you $100 for this information. You're in charge of surgically removing the ***** from the moths though.

Did you try it with and without? IIRC, winter formula tends to have lower mpg.
Yes, yes, I've tried all those things. If you look back over my posts you'll find I check my mileage constantly, loaded, unloaded, trips, around town and everywhere else. I've change air intakes, cat-backs and a programmer. I drive an average of 13-15k miles per year per vehicle and prior to installing the catalyst I had a one time best ever of 10.2mpg and a normal range of 9.2-9.8mpg. Since installation my worst mileage has been 10.18 and a new best of 11.3. By the way my old mileages were corrected 5% for tire size and my after mileages are observed, not corrected.
So for me I've seen an undeniable gain, likely related to my previous statement that in my area we have a known poor fuel quality issue. And yes the hydrogen generator may be the next thing I try, because trying is how we learn what works and what does not. If anyone has actually tried something and had good results I'd like to hear about it. If you believe something may or may not work let me know the facts after you try it, not you're opinion without trying it. Thanks.
Also now that I've apparently beaten my fuel quality problem I'm probably going to re-try the programmer as poor fuel quality was suggested by the manufacturer as a possibility as to why I lost mileage which I gained back after returning to stock programming. Best of luck to anyone who tries something different, we all need it.
