Here is the 30lb difference between the Borla SS and stock
The headers-
THere are two sets of gaskets I had - The stock Endelbrock and the Cobra - Lighting HP gaskets. Since the crush area on the Lightining gaskets matched the block I went with them - No issues after 20K miles.
I was very glad this was done on the stand and not in the truck. Major PIS even on the stand
No problems with heat build up at all. Of course my truck has a 3" body lift so you can see the headers in the wheel wells. Made a mess of the shiny motor so I would buy WW extenders IMHO next time. The Headers are Factory powder coated. Has not held up as much as well I would thought, there is some surface rust spots on them afet 20K or so.
One thing I mentioned in another post that started this all is my headers along with the lift, caused my 4x4 vacuum lines to lock the front diff to melt. If you g owith headers heat shield or reroute the lines...
Hi guys i used the same exhaust and headers on my truck and the headers have about rusted clear thru it leaks more now than it did before i put the new system on wish i found a better system but its too late now
I thouhgt that was odd. I recently found out is not "powder coated" or "ceramic coated" but a special heat activated coating. I was surprised to see surface rust so eairly. I may pull them back out when I do the cross over Y pipe with perf cats and take them to get them cermanic coated before they rust through.
Thanks for the heads up. I'ts a shame- they flow very and had great specs for the 5.4s.... Mike
