Paper label on each end of the valve cover has number. FK270AA and in much smaller print 11-16-84 which I assume is the date of assembly.
Engine is apparently an '85 Econoline 300 cu in six someone installed in my son's '66 F100. We replaced the leaky valve cover gasket and then degreased the engine.
But if you wanna keep the engine running cleaner its a nice thing to have if you wanna ever get some goodies for it be it emmission type stuff down the road should it migrate back to a newer rig.
Just looking to confirm engine vintage and size (240 or 300) when the need to buy parts, carb kit, ect. comes up. Save return trips to the parts counter.
Eventually going to change intake/exhaust manifold and carb back to the '66 configuration if we can find a doner. Present setup has far too many vacume connections and gadgets that can cause trouble.
For example: The carb choke has a plugged hot air line (from exhaust manifold) but now has an electric heat control. The '66 used a manual pull choke. The EGR valve has several ports that may or may not be plugged properly causing the engine to run rich.
