The AOD is not made with a 351/400 bellhousing pattern. The E4OD came behind 460's, but they are computer controlled. You would need a stand alone transmission controller to make it work.
You didn't specify whether you were referring to an auto or a manual transmission. Some OD manual transmission swaps include the ZF and the NV4500 5 speeds.
Another option is an add on OD unit such as those from Gear Vendors or US Gear. They are a little bit expensive at about $2500. Not only will you get OD out of it, it will double the number of gear selections you currently have. A 3 speed auto will become a 6 speed. Will also give you the option of splitting gears, which can help when towing.

Thease guys (Lentech Automotive Performance) make a AOD with a removiable bell and a bell for a 460 that should worlk with your M.

Have you looked into Gear Vendors? It bolts onto the back of your transmision and allows you to split gears with a final overdrive. It is a lot easier than changing to an AOD transmision and it works great. You can "manually" shift it in and out of OD or leave it on automatic and it will shift into OD around 40 MPH.
I put it in my 79 F350 and it works great.
