My '47 is going to Germany

Just sold my orange '47 1 ton this past weekend on eBay. The buyer is working as an agent for a guy in Germany who restores classic American cars and trucks. As we speak the truck should have left the ports in Long Beach, Ca, and is on it's way in a container to Germany. Sad to see it go, but it's pretty cool that it's going to have a new life, in a new country.

Off to germany

Hi,

I'll be looking for it on meetings in 1 or 2 years, 1 ton are pretty rare in Europe.
Any idea what the buyer intents to do with it? Is it going to be restored to stock condition, modified as a a custom with CSB or driven as is as a Rat Rod?

Gabby from Luxembourg.

As far as I know he will restore it. The guy that actually picked it up for him said he has sent a few cars to him already, the guy saw it online and told him to buy it for him. I hope it would go back to stock, or close to it, it's a unique truck, factory painted orange, possibly a Montana Highway Dept truck. If you ever do come across it over let me know, I would love to see what happens to it.

Going to Germany

Hi,

well if it's going to be restored to stock condition, then the chances of seeing it around are very small. These vehicles usually stay in the hangar for 99 percent of the time, are driven very short distances to meetings nearby and only seen by a very limited number of people.

Ratrods are driven all over Europe from the Summer Jamboree in Italy over the UK meeting in Hemsby including the german meetings (like the airfield dragrace of the Hotheadseast in Finsterwalde-Eastern Germany) up to the Hillclimbing of the A-Bombers in Sveden.

Personally I prefer seeing them on the road, even if customized, rodded or whatever, instead of beeing hidden somewhere in a shed....
Of course IMHO stock vehicles should be restored to original condition as long as they are rare and in a well preserved condition.

Keeping an eye open all of the time, Gabby.

Congrats on the sale of your Baby. I too just sold my 37 to a guy in England, it should be arriving there in a couple of days now.
He is going to keep it original, as what he told me anyway. He has a few of them now and thats what they are all original.
Anyway hope all works out well as far as the stock original goes.
