TIMING ON 351W 1996 BRONCO
Stock timing is 10 degrees BTDC, best way to find optimum is to bump up timing in 2 degree increments and road test, once it starts to ping under load back it off 2 degrees and enjoy. you may need to go to premium to get the best acceleration without pinging.

Yeah, I like to just loosen the distributor clamp up a little, so it will hold it down effectively, but you can rotate it by hand to make adjustments. Then you set, rev it up, feel it a littel, and adjust. One thing to monitor is the idle speed, the faster it idles, the better the timing is. Just don't get your hand chopped off in the fan, it's kinda tricky reaching it with the fan running.
