39 ford project truck... Whats its worth?
The truck is pretty much apart (stored in shop) and I have been in process of restoring for a while. I have no longer the time to complete it and hate to let it set if someone can finish what I started. (Truck has been around a while and it deserves that much)
The main rolling chassis is pretty much done. It has a 49 8ba motor that has had all machine work done, crank turned, bored out (30over) and all parts needed to complete. New Bearings, new pistons ect... About everything on chassis is ready to go. Replaced or rebuilt anything that needed it.
Pretty much sheet metal work is all thats left. I started on the cab and its half way there. The rest, fenders, running boards, hood, grill, bed ect are untouched by me. Truck had very little rust when I started just misc dents and typical damage for trucks year. I have misc new parts too. (seals, bushings, *****, Cab mounting boards, stuff like that) I am working on getting photos I can send to someone if that would help. (few motor and chassis pics in gallary) Needing a rough price and best place to try to sell it. Dont what to try to make a killing off of it just get some of my money I have tied up in it back. I do have the title for it signed by the previse owner but never changed it to my name. Thanks for any help and info.... Everyone have a wonderful day... Patrick
Firstly, without some pictures it is hard to determine what the value is. If you could post some pictures that show the condition of the body, the fenders and grille area, the box and rear fenders, the frame and undercarriage, that would be most helpful.
Secondly, a truck that is in pieces will not reap the best sales price. The reason being is that some of the parts get lost along the way. Also, the way in which it was taken apart affects how it goes back together. Some of the bolts are specialized, for example the shoulder bolts that hold the hood hinges to the hood, if these are lost or misplaced, it is an added expense to the re-builder. Trucks that are sold in pieces are usually placed as "half value", for the reasons I listed above. Some work done trucks will be slightly higher in value.
If you are just wanting to get rid of it to get some money back that you spent on it, then you are at the mercy of the buyer. I would encourage you to stick with the truck, take a good hard look at it and if you get stuck on what to do, come back here and ask for help. Most people here would be glad to help. Try and get the truck back to at least a rolling chassis basis with the cab, frame, box and fenders on. Good luck, ED.
It was taking apart very carefully putting each item in seperate bags marking each one on what it was and even diagrams and pics if I thought I would have had a question later. I usually then found and bought any part that could not be reused at that time.
The chassis is complete. Motor is ready to be put together with lots of new parts (fuel pump, water pumps, ect). I assy the chassis and motor (motor does not have internals intstalled) and set into chassis. I guess I could reassemble the truck if that would help but seems like a lot of work just for someone to take back apart.
90% of sheetmetal is in great condition with exception of front panel on bed is rusted at the bottom and one rear fender needs straightened. Cab is about 85% complete with exception of top and back. It had very little rust but any that was there was completly cut out and new panels installed. Really nice solid truck. Origional grille has a few issues but have another grille that should work out nice. I will work on getting more pics and at least install the cab, fenders, hood and running boards. The only thing I think I dont have for the truck is the origional head liner and factory wheels. I wish I could stick with the truck but with job and family it just is not gonna happen. I am one of the guys that wont let something set hoping I will get to it when there is someone out there that has the time and can put it back on the road where it belongs
Thanks for the input and will post more pics in gallery when I get them. Have a great day... Patrick
