i am new here andi have a 2002 f-350 ( non dually) 4x4. i have 37 inch parnelli jones tires and i hate how it is a little sluggish in 2nd gear. i have the stock 3.73 gears in it now any suggestions on what i should get and where to get them from?
4.56 from Randys Ring and Pinion. I'd put in limited slip or locking differentials at the same time since you'll have the axle housings opened up anyway.
i use to do a lot of towing before i put the big tires on but i have an 04 f350 deisel i use for towing now. i mainly just use this truck to drive around and do a little off roading in. but when i do tow i have a 873 bobcat and a few tons of rock on it.
Id deff go with 4.88's. That should give you more torque. Also, you wont save any money by switching to 4.56's. 4.56 and 4.88 are about the same in cash.
The 4.56 or 4.88 will help get those 37" tires rolling a lot easier! Since you wheel your SuperDuty...might go with ARB front and rear...or at a minimum go with a TrueTrac LS in the rear.
Using the calculator on that site, 4.88 with 37" is almost identical to my stock 4.1 265/70/17 (31") tires. I'd go with that or step up one to the 5.13 which is simular to my tires with 4.3 and I wouldn't mind a bit more gear.
