Simple IAC ques.

My trucks startin to show symptoms of rough IDLE in moist weather, etc. So Im thinking about taken my IAC off and cleanin it tomorow if the weather permits (ice cold rain ). But anyways, my ques is, if i take it off to clean it, will i have to buy a new gasket? If so how much? Second ques, would u guys clean it with carb cleaner? If not, what do u use. Also do u just dip the entire IAC in the cleaner or just squirt some in the IAC? Thanks for the help!

Dip or spray it doesnt matter as long as its clean. I dont remember if you need a new gasket, Be sure to reset the computer.

And you mean resetting it by unpluging the batt?

Yes...disconnect the neg (-) battery cable and with the headlight switch in the "ON" position...will cause the PCM to reset (removes all residual from the system). A good 15-30min should do it...

Now the PCM will need to relearn...and that is done with a 10 minute highway drive...followed with a 20 minute city drive. Never turning off the V10 during that process.

In regards to the gasket...IMHO...it should be replaced. No need to create a leak...and cause issues down the line.

I would only spray the IAC and not soak it. Just spray it like you would a carb...and let air dry. If you happen to spray the connector...then wipe off right away.

Hope this helps...

I guess I'm dumb... (hush, Matt!)... but by IAC are you referring to the combo MAF/IAT sensor?

I cleaned mine every other oil change (because of the oiled filter) and would suggest only using MAF cleaner, not carb cleaner. Never changed the gasket.

I believe that IAC is for the solenoid on the throttle body that stands for Idle Air Control.

When I cleaned my IAC, the gasket tore when I removed it from the throttle body. Why not get a new one and have it just in case the old doesn't look good or it tears when you remove it. Better to have one on hand than to have to go get one!!!
