How is everyone likeing their new SD, is everything going well with them except the fuel mileage. Im not sure if i should trade my 06 lariat in for a new 08 lariat?those of you who have traded 6litres for the newer one, what do you think?i hear that the 6.4 is going to be a beast, should i wait for another year or go for it now?

I dont no if i can judge because I traded my 06 6.0 f350 for an 08 6.4 f550 and the 08 to me felt as fast as the 6.0. But alot bigger truck. I would not wait but that is just MO!!! I jot 14 to 16 with my 6.0 unloaded and the f550 gets 11 to 12, and can haul the 6.0 and the trailer and then some. Good luck!! Hope it goes well.

I will tell you to drive one, then you'll know what all the hype is about. When I drove one for the first time, I was in love. So quiet, no turbo lag, not to mention the numerous upgrades on the truck. It rides nice, the interior is way better, I just can't say enough good things about it. If it got better fuel economy, I'd say the truck is perfect. If you look around on here, you will find a few people with problems, but for the most part, I think the general concensus is the trucks are awesome and they are pulling machines, THAT's for sure.

You're leaving us, Jocaren?!!

I think you'll love the 6.4 and all the features that the new SD comes with. Take a look at that radiator if you really want to drool...

I drove my 6.0, a GMC Dmax, and a 6.4 all back-to-back when I was helping a friend decide on which truck to get. The Ford is just such a better value than the GM, as well as a more solid feeling truck -- felt just as strong on acceleration too. It'd put my stock 6.0 in the weeds.

My friend's truck gets picked up from the dealer tomorrow. It was ordered with the 3.55s so I'll be interested in how spunky it feels and what the mileage range ends up being. Only truck I'll be envious of over mine...

I really think the 6.4 is a hit out of the park for Ford. The other makers forums are full of horror stories. Things like the EGR pre-catalyst are great ideas that the others will end up following on -- Good job Ford!!

AWESOME - DAWSON! Put a few thousand miles on the 6.4 08's and you will want to buy one. Keeps impressing me, and still no regen with 3200 miles and no smoke.

I had heard the 3.55s were going to be in the future. Did not know the future was now? Thats great news. really anxious to see how it will do. Especially with a six speed manual, should be the mpg some are looking for by keeping those rpms down to 2,000 is one of the secrets of the 6.4.
Test drive one to see the difference, couldn't be happier with mine.

They uprated several ratios for the job 3 builds, added the 3.55s for 250/350 SRWs and eliminated the 4.88s for the 450 (for example, the 4.30s are rated for what the 4.88s were). The 3.55s are rated the same as the 3.73s -- go figure. I know that with my larger diameter tires I'm probably in the 3.6x range, and I can feel a difference (then again there's a lot more rotating mass too).

The sales guy at the dealer insisted there was no option for a 3.55 when we ordered the truck in early Jan. -- it took a while to "work" through that (not the nicest guy when a customer knew more than him...!)

i test drove one the other day and it had a vibration while i was driving it, like it was out of balance and alignment! Other than that it was hard to feel the power of it stock when im driving around in xtreme tune all the time! The system was awesome and it was nice and quet. My friend has an 08 with 10 in rize lift on 42's and it still rides great and seems to have a lot of power! Im upside down on my 06 by 8k dollars, the dealership only wants to give me 26k for my lariat!

That is a rip-off!! An '06 should fetch in the 30s out here. When I bought my '07 the dealer gave me $31K for a 2 year old dmax and they sold it for $38k (but I was only in it for $34K and traded it in 'cause it was an overheater). Find another dealer or sell it privately is my advice...

Ya well they only wanted to give me $31,000 for my POS 2008

Before I trade I would make sure It is a Job 3 truck and buy as much warranty as you can you may need it!!!

Only one more repair and I can have a bakers dozen!! and Ford customer service is suffering big time. Unless you speak the language from India or Mexico.
My truck as you may have read is a lemon and Ford only offered me an extended
warranty and to make a payment. Sorry that is all we can do! We think we have all the problems with your truck fixed now!
Radiator, keyless entry, limited slip rear end,4x4 connector on tranfer case, left hub,fog light, trailer brake pigtail, turbo boot, seat belt,AC compressor,DPF,and some sensors. all have been replaced. in less than 8 mos. not counting air leaks, reflashes, chipped paint, poor milage.

Well after 26 F series trucks you would think they would give me a new one
I even told them I would buy a truck for 10,000 dollars more. just get me out of this truck and let me keep my 20 grand I put down. Sorry Mr Hoffman we can't do that!

So think real hard before you trade!!! Sorry for the rant again guys

Keep your 6.0, you'd be crazy to trade for a 6.4. Let that engine run a couple years before you toss out 45k for one............You never buy a first year in any vehicle, you are asking for potential problems.......

If everyone thought that way every year of truck would be the first year. If no one bought the first year they would never find any problems. IMO

Have the opposite opinion. With all the problems of the 6.0 Did not Trade for an 06 waited for the 08 and glad I did. Could not be happier. Also traded in a 99 1st year truck that I had for 9 years. The first 6 years of that were flawless and that was a complete redesign from the floor up for the Super Duty. So far my 08 job 1 delivered Last April has been flawless too. As long as his truck is running good it might be good advise to wait a little longer. Just do not wait too long sometimes for things like brakes, hubs, rotors to go. Ford has had the 08 out for over a year now. Most bugs have been worked out I would say. Job 3 has had improvements of some problems.
