Wheel fit

Would anyone know if wheels off a 2006 F350 18inch will go onto a 2005 Excursion or is an adapter of some sort needed. Happy and Healthy 2008 to all!

You'll need a set of adapters and some "good luck" top go with your search for replacement rubber when the time comes (not a lot of choices right now).

Adapters can be had via eBay.

Why would he need adapters on a 2005 Excursion?

I think he would only need adapters for a 2000-2004 Excursion.

The offset changed in 2005.

Only on the trucks, not the X it still has leaf springs and the smaller brakes.

Read this subject, it appears to be the BEST spacers on the market. They are expensive, but well worth it if you want newer wheels from other Ford products as shown in the images in the subject.

If you buy aftermarket wheels do they need to be hubcentric? Are the factory wheels hubcentric? Or do only the 2" spacers need to be hubcentric for the conversion to 2005-2008 factory ford SD wheels?

Factory Wheels are Hubcentric, Any wheel you put on should be hubcentric. If it takes a tapered style lug nut I would pass on buying them. Some of the aftermarket wheels come with a plastic piece that fits over the hub to center the wheels. Any aftermarket lug nuts you use should be like the factory ones with a washer.

That is not completely accurate. I have Weld Racing wheels on my truck that are hubcentric and they take a tapered style lug nut. Hubcentric wheels for these trucks are few and far between. I finally decided to go ahead and pay more and get the extra strength so that I could fit larger tires. Afterall, my family is riding in this thing.

Yep... I agree. I went the same route at "high1". The adapters are costly but I got a great deal on a set of 08 Super Duty 20's & tire take-offs... And even with the cost of the spacers, the cost was below $2K... You're going to spend at least that amount for a quality wheel / tire combo (remember to add the costs of lug nuts and mounting the tires on the rims.) Check out the look of my X with the 20's on in my gallery.
